JOHN DEWEY’S EDUCATIONAL PROGRESSIVISM IN RUSSIA BEFORE AND AFTER THE REVOLUTION OF 1917 AS AN INSTRUMENT OF EDUCATION MODERNIZATION
The article focuses on the influence of the American reformer J. Dewey’s pedagogical ideas on pre-revolutionary Russian pedagogy and Russian pedagogy of the early 20th century up to the 1930s. The article proves that the outstanding scholar’s ideas triggered off the process of education modernization in Russia in the 1920s and influenced pedagogical views of K.N. Ventsel, P.P. Blonsky, S.T. Shatsky, A.N. Zelenko and others.
