To meet the current and future needs of businesses and employers for highly qualified specialists the university is developing and improving the existing system of the mutually beneficial cooperation with the social partners. One of the emerging forms of the cooperation between the university and the industry is training specialists based on preliminary bids from the companies for graduates.

Information for prospective students

The university site contains the information for entrants: the preparatory courses, admission rules, "entrant calendar." The applicants have the opportunity to get acquainted with the results of the reception of the previous years. There is information about the educational programs.

The faculty regularly has open days: the story of the faculty, student parents’ counseling, meetings of the entrants with the first-year students and graduates of NSPU. The booklet for the faculty entrants is regularly produced. The faculty students take part in career-oriented work. They prepare computer presentations of the teaching profession and show them to high schoolchildren during the period of their teaching practice. The flyers with the information about NSPU are hung in educational institutions of secondary education and vocational training.

Mission and strategic aims of NSPU.

NSPU mission - the rising rapid development of higher education quality for the training and education of the teacher-innovator, a specialist that is capable of providing socio-economic growth of the Nizhny Novgorod region and the Russian Federation, and their own personal progress throughout life under any circumstances.

The strategic aim of NSPU till 2020 is to make it the leading establishment for the corresponding segment of the educational market (pedagogical, professional and educational, social and humanitarian) that meets the needs of consumers, the legal requirements and regulations of the Russian Federation, ENQA standards and guidelines for quality assurance of education, the formation as a leading research and teaching center of the Volga Federal District, actively and effectively meet the challenges of education and regional development through the following objectives:

  • establishing of a training and retraining system, advanced training through the integration of scientific and educational research to educational programs at different levels of education;

  • formation of common scientific and educational space for different levels of education;

  • realization of innovative educational programs that determine systemic modernization of education and implementation of the principles of the national education initiative "Our New School";

  • the development and implementation of various forms of academic mobility of students and science teachers;

  • carrying out of a wide range of basic and scientific research, bringing research results to practical applications;

  • meet the needs of the innovation of the Volga Federal District in the competitive staffing to meet the challenges of territorial development and implementation of socio-economic development of the region;

  • an active participation in the solution of socio-economic development of the Volga Federal District.

The regulation "On the rating assessment system of the students training quality" (extract)

The main functionality of the rating system of assessing the quality of student training is to manage the learning activities of students. The rating system allows us to rank students for results and to determine the success of their university studies. Establishment ranking of a student (i.e., which place he occupied for the training success) contributes to its independence and activity in the development of training programs and competencies defined in the GEF and, ultimately, improvement the quality of its overall cultural and vocational training. The rating assessment system of the students training quality is an effective means of managing the educational process in NSPU.

The rating system is based on an integrated assessment of all types of learning activities of students, ensuring the formation of common cultural and professional competencies provided by the curriculum of bachelor training, in particular:

  • Mastering the disciplines of the curriculum;

  • Execution of coursework;

  • The passage of all types of practices;

  • Passing the final state examination in accordance with the profile of training;

  • Performance and protection of the final qualifying work (SRS).

The rating is calculated for each subject within 100 points. This is the maximum attainable for an ideal student in a single discipline.

In connection with the transition to a two- level system of training of graduates with higher education and the implementation of the learning process of credits as the basis of the transition to the European System of accepting previous exam results (and savings) of credits (ECTS) for comparable systems assessment of learning outcomes this regulation (as it is common in ECTS) provides the following distribution points:

  • 70 points - for the current assessment of the student during the semester;

  • 30 points - for the final assessment of students in the discipline, including the stages of many foreign control or on the exam (differential offset), if provided by the curriculum in the profile bachelor.

The final grade for the discipline for which interim assessment form provided with the assessment (exam or differential offset) is exposed with the amount of points earned by a student in a semester, and the exam (differentiated classification) in accordance with the following scale:

55-70 points - "satisfactory";

71-85 points - "good";

86-100 points - "excellent."

The final grade for the discipline for which interim assessment form provided no estimates (offset), put up with the amount of points earned by a student in a semester, and must be at least 55 points.

Rating points are given to students for the whole period of studying the discipline, and are fixed by inclusion in the statement of the account of students rating points. Individual student's academic ranking is determined by the results of each semester, each course, the results of the final state certification of graduates.

Appendix 6
The rating assessment of the faculty teachers and the department (abstract)

1.1. The objectives are to evaluate the quality of the University, to improve the management of the structural units and to organize the dynamic development of the university on the basis of most possible use of the available human resources.

1.2 The aspiration to come to level of personal interest of workers in increase of qualification level, efficiency of pedagogical and scientific work, definition of a place of the chair in activities for performance of license, accreditation indicators of university and increase of a rating indicator of university among higher educational institutions acts as the central idea of a rating assessment.

1.3. The main objectives of a rating assessment of the faculty and department are:

  • creation of system of internal audit of efficiency of university departments activity , optimization of office-work and decrease in labor costs on drawing up reporting documentation according to requirements of SMS P ISO 9001-2001 and ENQA recommendations;

  • definition of common sets of criteria to assess and control the level of the department work;

  • activization of all kinds of activity focused on increase of university rating , creation of conditions for the professional growth of the employees;

  • creation of the fullest computerized information databank reflecting in dynamics efficiency of activity of the faculty and department as a whole;

  • formation of the incentive scheme for the department staff.

1.5 Regular teachers and the teachers issued on the terms of internal combining jobs participate in a rating assessment of the faculty activity;

2.2 Preparation of offers on formation of the list of standard and weight values of indicators of a rating assessment of activity of the faculty (further – PTS) and the department for a semester is carried out by vice rectors for the activities.

2.6 Control of reliability of basic data of activity of PTS is exercised by the head of the department, chair activity – the heads of structural divisions responsible for these kinds of activity.

2.7 Collecting basic data, processing, the analysis, preparation of results of a rating assessment of activity of PTS and the chair are carried out by the center of quality management of education (further – CQME).

2.8 Calculation of the general fund of basic surcharge of PTS of the chair and the sum of individual basic surcharge to each employee of the chair for a semester by results of a rating assessment controls are controlled by the Financial and Economic Affairs (further – FEA).

2.9 Results of activity of PTS and the chair (rating) are confidential and reported to the divisions heads in order to make administrative decisions.

2.10 The rating assessment of activity of PTS and the chair is carried out 2 times a year following the results of an educational semester.

Appendix 7

The analysis of the material and information support for the realization of the basic educational program.

The land plots of NSPU are put on the cadastral account and have all the necessary legal documents. All buildings, structures and constructions of the university are included in the register of federal property and registered in the Ministry of the property relations of the Nizhny Novgorod Region. For all buildings and constructions of university there are permissions of the Head department of Emercom of Russia across the Nizhny Novgorod Region ( No. 878-2-1-5 of 18.05.2010 and No. 877-2-1-5 of 18.05.2010) and the Public sanitary and epidemiologic service of the Russian Federation across the Nizhny Novgorod Region ( No. of 07.04.2010).

The two blocks of the university are located in Zarechnaya part of the city: during the period from 2006 to 2010 reconstruction of educational blocks on Chelyuskintsev St., 9 was being made ,it allowed to increase the number of the educational areas. The hostel building also has a dormitory renovation project, preparatory work to strengthen the foundation has already been made .The building of the educational block on Lunacharsky St., 23 is constructed and put in operation in 2005. It has own gas roof boiler that is more responsive to the temperature changes indoors. The sports block is constructed in 1972 and also is planned to be reconstructed. In 2010 all shower and locker rooms in this block were repaired. The sports ground meets all standard requirements and is used for carrying out occupations of various level on basketball, volleyball. The land plots of NSPU are put on the cadastral account and have all necessary legal documents.

All the academic buildings and dormitories are equipped with fire safety and surveillance systems.

NSPU has the necessary equipment, and various technical means of contributing to the effective conduct of various activities: acoustic systems, radio systems, power amplifiers, laptops with the necessary software, sets of musical instruments, costumes for amateur groups (the production of which is in our own workshop.) The university has three hostels. In the hostel No. 1 about 100 people lives, in the hostel No. 2 more than 500 people live, in the hostel No. 3 – about 300. The university has a dining room with two halls with150 places and 3 buffets in the main block and a dining room and a buffet in the zarechny block. On the balance sheet of the university there is a house (Artelnaya St. 8). Total area - 3382 sq.m., including inhabited - 2321,6 sq.m.

During the summer holidays for students and staff sports camp on the bank of the Gorky Reservoir in Gorodetsky district work. There are more than 50 residential wooden houses of summer type, a wooden dining room, a dance hall, a warehouse, a medical center, sauna. At the same time 250 students and teachers can rest in the camp.

The University has a biological station in the village of Dmitrievskaya, Krasnobakovsky district of Nizhny Novgorod region. There are six tents residence for students, there are facilities for laboratory and practical classes. The overhaul of the building of a biological research station is made.

The university students are provided with the organized feeding in all blocks.

Students have the access to the library resources (including electronic). The library fund is staffed with print and electronic media, there is an access to electronic library systems.

The e-library system provides the possibility of individual access for everyone being trained from any computer being in a network of the university, it creates necessary conditions for the organization of independent and research work of the students.

The available material support is enough and adequate to the purposes of the basic educational program.

Over the last five years a considerable modernization of computer park, technical and software equipment of the university has been made. The total number of computers has increased by more than 2 times (only for the 2009-2010 academic year it has increased by 40%), 65% of them have the access to the Internet. 13 computer labs are equipped with modern video and multimedia technology,it allows to use methods for distance learning, organizing webinars, broadcast video conferences. LCN of the university is demarcated into5 subnets, financial, administrative, educational, for the Internet cafe, a remote block. While working with the LCN 7 servers are used. LCN has an access to the external Internet by 2 channels 10 and 8 Mb / s.

The center of line scanning, the press and copying of educational and methodical materials functions. The majority of cycles of disciplines of all educational programs is provided with the computer equipment and programs. The expansion of strategy and policy of the university is provided by means of ICT. Collecting and information processing on its realization are provided by means of ICT too.

Structuring of information resources is produced in the following way: the work of Staff on the platform "1C", movement of contingent on Institutions and the dean's office on a platform of "1C", accounting and financial activity on the platform "1C", automated library, registration and movement of the book fund, “Selection committee” runs.

The Means of informing the public about the activities of NSPU is the official website of the university, which is located at: http://mininuniver.ru/. As a part of the innovative activities of the university in 2010, the project is deployed together with Microsoft to build a unified system of interaction of teachers and students on the basis of solutions NSPU MicrosoftLive@edu. The purpose of introduction of the decision is granting to university of the best set of services for ensuring needs of teachers and students. In the first half of 2012 the task was solved and the electronic profile of the university is represented in full http://vgipublog.wordpress.com/. The project allowed to increase the efficiency of university management, reduce the cost of communication and provided students and teachers with a set of effective services that facilitate collaboration in the educational process from a simple newsletter, maintenance scheduling to full integration into the learning process.

Development purposes in the field of information for 2013 are:

  • further modernization of the computer park and networks;

  • support and electronic document management system;

  • development of the official website of the university;

  • implementation of the "blogosphere" - to develop and maintain up to date blogs of the departments and teachers;

  • implementation of a single TV informative system as a part of an integrated automation of the development of the university.
